Anyone who plunges into an immersive world should not forget that the real world is still there, and that can pose dangers. Professional VR headsets such as Meta Quest often display a safety zone to remind users that they are in a real environment. But not everyone uses such devices. There are simple solutions on the market, such as plastic glasses or cardboard boxes in which you can insert your smartphone. Even with these simple tools, you can immerse yourself deeply in a virtual world – and forget everything around you. But that is precisely the danger: you can overlook your real surroundings, the sound can be too loud, and prolonged use often leads to a lack of oxygen – which can cause dizziness or light-headedness. Especially when several people are together in a real environment, it can happen that you no longer notice these people. To draw attention to the fact that you should not lose sight of yourself and others when using immersive media, the 6th semester students have developed a quiet but effective intro. It is inserted before each piece of immersive content – as a gentle, almost self-evident reminder: protect yourself and others when enjoying immersive films.
