In film, however, the prototype is an audiovisual project that takes up and examines a research focus.
A first example of such a project is the documentary film feature ‘Sus Cortina’, which was produced by the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts in collaboration with the Western University of Timisoara and the German State Theatre in Timisoara. The project was supported by the German Cultural Centre in Timisoara. Here, the boundary between narrative and documentary content was blurred by combining narrative forms with documentary content.
Another prototype is the joint music video ‘Umle Kalahu’ with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town. Here, post-production was carried out in Cape Town, while the editing took place at different locations. The communication and coordination between the students and lecturers of the project was a great challenge and provided an exciting field for discussion. The project was funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture.
An interesting example of a serial format is ‘VR Possessed’, which stands out due to the mixture of conventional mockumentary parts with VR 360-degree episodes. The question is whether viewers will accept this change and perceive it as added value.
